In memory

of B. Lynn Beaird, 1936–2006, a great man, awesome father.

Byron Lynn Beaird was a great man.  After dropping out of high school, he served in the Air Force, came home, married my mother and graduated from the University of Texas in 2 1/2 years.  He was a mathematician, an actuary, and was the manager of the Wyatt Company in Houston.  When I was a kid he invented this baseball contraption to help me become a better pitcher.  He loved to play golf and bridge, and was a voracious reader.

I played four years of high school baseball and football and he was at every single home and out of town game.  And this was in Rosenberg, Texas, where some of our away games were three hours away.

We miss you Dad.
